About The Role
The Human Resources Technician position is a vital administrative role within the Office of Human Resources & Employee Relations at College of the Desert. Under the supervision of the Vice President of Human Resources & Labor Relations, the incumbent will perform a broad range of clerical, administrative, and technical duties to support the efficient operation of the department. This role requires a highly organized individual with excellent communication skills, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. The Human Resources Technician will serve as a key point of contact for employees, applicants, and external partners, ensuring that all processes related to recruitment, onboarding, personnel data management, and recordkeeping are handled accurately and professionally. The position offers an opportunity to work within a collaborative team dedicated to fostering a positive workplace culture and supporting the college’s strategic goals related to workforce development and employee relations. This full-time role is based primarily at the Palm Desert Campus and offers a competitive salary along with benefits aligned with district policies.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess a combination of education and experience that demonstrates their capability to perform the duties of this position effectively. A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with at least three (3) years of administrative or technical clerical experience, preferably with some public contact. Knowledge of modern office procedures, equipment, and record-keeping techniques is essential. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in using office software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and database management systems. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to interact tactfully and professionally with diverse stakeholders. The ability to handle confidential information discreetly, meet deadlines, and organize multiple projects simultaneously is critical. Familiarity with personnel processes, applicant tracking systems, and onboarding procedures will be advantageous. The successful candidate must also be adaptable, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining a respectful and inclusive work environment.
