A reputable organization is hiring experienced Crisis Counselors to join the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. This is a fully remote, temp-to-perm opportunity for passionate mental health professionals ready to make a direct impact — handling inbound crisis contacts via phone, text, and chat.
What you’ll do
- Respond to inbound contacts on the 988 Lifeline via phone, text, and online chat
- Conduct risk assessments and safety planning with individuals in crisis
- Provide empathetic, trauma-informed de-escalation and support
- Connect callers/texters to appropriate local resources and follow-up services
- Document contacts accurately and in compliance with 988 network standards
- Collaborate with supervisors and follow established protocols for high-risk situations
Requirements
- Prior 988 Lifeline experience is required — candidates without it will not be considered
- Experience handling crisis contacts via phone, text, and/or chat platforms
- Strong crisis intervention and risk assessment skills
- Degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field preferred
- Reliable high-speed internet, private workspace, and a personal computer
- Availability to commit to a consistent schedule (shifts TBD based on need)
