Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Managed Care executive to lead payer strategy for a large, multi‑state ophthalmology and eye‑care services platform. This position is central to optimizing reimbursement, strengthening payer relationships, and aligning contracting strategy with clinical operations and long‑term growth objectives.

This leader will serve as the primary executive point of contact for payers and play a key role in shaping enterprise‑wide managed care strategy.

Scope of Responsibility

• Own and advance managed care strategy across all markets within a geographically diverse, physician‑led organization
• Negotiate, structure, and manage payer contracts to optimize rates, terms, and network positioning
• Serve as the senior executive relationship owner with national, regional, and local health plans
• Partner closely with finance, revenue cycle, operations, and clinical leadership to ensure alignment between contracts and performance
• Develop market‑specific approaches to address payer mix, renewal cycles, and reimbursement competitiveness
• Track and assess payer performance, reimbursement trends, and regulatory developments impacting eye‑care services
• Support organic growth and acquisitions by evaluating managed care readiness and contracting implications
• Implement consistent managed care processes, reporting, and governance across all markets
• Build, lead, and scale a high‑performing managed care function

Background & Experience

• Extensive experience leading managed care or payer contracting within healthcare services organizations
• Familiarity with ophthalmology, optometry, ambulatory surgery, or multi‑site provider platforms strongly preferred
• Demonstrated success negotiating complex, multi‑state payer agreements
• Deep understanding of reimbursement structures, contracting models, and payer economics
• Experience working with executive leadership teams, Boards, or financial sponsors preferred
• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus
