Vice President, Project Controls
Position Overview
The Vice President of Project Controls is responsible for leading the company-wide project controls framework, ensuring effective management of cost, schedule, and resources across large and complex projects. This role provides strategic oversight of project execution, governance, and performance management, enabling successful and efficient project delivery aligned with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of the enterprise Project Controls framework, including cost control, schedule management, resource planning, and risk management
Oversee the performance of major projects to ensure alignment with approved budgets, timelines, and scope
Establish and maintain standardized scheduling practices and methodologies across all projects
Manage project cost control processes, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and reporting
Direct risk management processes to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks
Oversee Earned Value Management (EVM) implementation and performance tracking
Collaborate closely with Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, and Finance teams
Provide executive-level reporting on project performance, risks, and key metrics to senior leadership
Drive the implementation and optimization of project management tools and systems (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project)
Develop and enhance project data analytics and reporting capabilities to improve transparency and decision-making
Lead, mentor, and develop the Project Controls team to strengthen organizational capability
Ensure compliance with industry standards, internal governance, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field
10+ years of experience in project management or project controls, including at least 5 years in a leadership role
Proven experience managing large-scale, complex projects (e.g., infrastructure, energy, construction, or industrial projects)
Strong understanding of project controls methodologies, including cost control, scheduling, and risk management
Proficiency in project management tools such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project
Strong analytical and reporting capabilities
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Demonstrated leadership and team management experience
Ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
PMP, PgMP, or AACE certification
Experience in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) environments
International or multi-regional project experience
Strong knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) systems
Experience building Project Controls frameworks from the ground up
