Position Overview:
Gilman Precision is seeking a skilled Vertical/Horizontal CNC Machinist to join our 1st shift team. This role includes machine setup, operation, and part inspection on both vertical and horizontal machining centers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and experienced in precision machining environments.
What You’ll Do:
- Set up and operate vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers
- Load programs, adjust offsets, and make minor edits as needed
- Inspect parts using precision measuring tools to ensure quality and accuracy
- Monitor machining processes and make adjustments to maintain tolerances
- Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions (preferred)
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Required Qualifications:
- Experience operating CNC machining centers (vertical and/or horizontal)
- Setup experience, including tooling and fixturing
- Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience on both vertical and horizontal machines
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
- Background in precision or tight-tolerance machining
