2. About the Opportunity:
The Underwriting Assistant is a key support role within the Business Services Group that enhances underwriting efficiency and effectiveness. This position partners closely with underwriters to manage workflows, support renewals and new business policies, and maintain communication with agents and brokers. The role contributes by ensuring accurate documentation, timely service, and compliance while helping to optimize underwriting capacity and meet organizational goals.
3. Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with underwriters to identify support needs for renewals and new business
• Prepare documents and participate in pre-renewal meetings
• Develop underwriting and pricing exhibits including exposures, experience rating, and financial analyses
• Manage account documentation such as proposals, agreements, contracts, policy changes, and endorsements
• Ensure accurate and timely servicing and billing of accounts
• Communicate effectively with brokers, agencies, wholesalers, and internal teams to resolve issues and respond to inquiries
• Prepare quotes by reviewing exposures, experience rating, and account information; adjust pricing as needed
• Complete renewals following formal guidelines when authorized
• Provide information for regulatory compliance such as filings and certificates
• Participate in projects or assignments as requested
4. Requirements:
• Minimum three years of insurance experience related to rate, quote, and issuance of P&C insurance preferred
• High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to independently assign class codes and handle bureau criticisms
• Experience with Professional Liability (E&O) is a plus
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to meet management standards and set high personal standards
• Effective communication skills in person and virtual
• Comfortable working across complex organizations and adapting to change
• Professional demeanor with a positive attitude
• Driven to seek development opportunities
• Ability to follow guidelines and innovate with emphasis on quality and customer service
5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
