Job Description
A highly motivated Underwriter with a strong history of decisioning consumer loans, working with complex income calculations and providing excellent customer service.
The Underwriter will be responsible for determining borrower, credit, income, and property eligibility, and project eligibility reviews working with business partners to facilitate exceptional service.
The Underwriter will work on the Underwriting Team and report to the Underwriting Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
Underwrites Consumer Solar and Home Improvement loans. Performs any functions necessary to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers including, but not limited to:
Underwriting loans within assigned lending authority and submitting recommendations for loans needing escalation.
Reviewing, validating, and updating loan file data based on submitted documentation.
Performing intricate income calculations as needed to determine loan qualification.
Conditioning for missing or additional documentation needed.
Providing timely and effective communication to colleagues and business partners, as well as external business partners and vendors, for exceptional internal and external customer experience.
Provide outstanding customer service to borrowers and installers who have questions related to Underwriting.
Communicating directly with borrowers and installers via our platform, phone and email.
Underwriting solar project milestones.
Participating in any special projects assigned by Management.
Providing feedback on improvements to process and procedure as needed.
Required Experience/Skills
3+ years consumer loan underwriting experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to provide colleagues and third-party auditors/regulators with decision rationale.
Access to a quiet, dedicated space to perform your duties without interruption during work hours
Experience working in a fast paced and changing environment. Must be self-motivated and have solid time management skills with the ability to organize and prioritize multiple competing tasks.
Must have organizational, analytical, problem solving, attention to detail and customer service skills.
Curious, learning mindset.
Interest in learning about the solar industry.
Must be proficient in computer skills, including but not limited to Google Docs (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Must be able to work well in a remote, paperless, automated environment with a wide variety of technological solutions and processes.
Work Hours
Monday – Friday 10:00 am MT to 7:00 pm MT*
Saturdays – 8:00 am MT to 5:00 pm MT*
