Position Title: Driver, Tack Truck FLSA status: Non-Exempt
Department: Asphalt Paving | Construction Reports to: Site Manager
Salary Level: Commensurate upon experience Location: Wichita, KS
Position Summary
This position is responsible for operating a commercial motor vehicle to
distribute/spray asphalt tack on the
construction area ahead of the asphalt paver. Seeking dedicated people
with desire to learn and build a career
while exceeding the highest quality of safety standards. Will be
required to operate different aspects of the
vehicles systems to load and unload product as required. Requires Class
B commercial drivers license with
Tanker endorsement and valid DOT medical card.
Essential Functions
Responsible for loading truck from emulsion tank.
Responsible for applying emulsion to road surface prior to paving.
Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting and distributing
product to designated job sites
complying with all USDOT regulations.
Check vehicle to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment
is in good operating order.
Maintain logs of operating hours and delivery of product, following
applicable state and federal
regulations.
Load/unload and transport product in a manner that eliminates
contamination and maintains quality.
Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspection of truck equipment and
supplies such as tires, lights,
brakes, gas, oil and water.
Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks such as adding oil, fuel, and
radiator fluid, or performing
minor repairs.
Climb ladders or stairs to inspect loads, ensuring that the product is
accurate, and vehicle is clean.
Collaborate with other drivers as part of a driving team on some trips.
Effectively and professionally communicate with colleagues to ensure
proper delivery of product.
Climb in and out of vehicle cab frequently throughout day.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Tack Truck or Distributor experience preferred.
Knowledge of welding and general mechanics preferred.
High school education or GED equivalent.

distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in
outside weather conditions and is
exposed to airborne particles. The employee regularly works near moving
mechanical parts. The noise level in
the work environment is usually loud.
