Source One is a consulting services company and we’re currently looking for the following individual to work as a consultant for an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company in Foster City, CA.
** We are unable to work with third-party companies for this role.
Title: System Integration & Test Engineer (Contract)
Pay: $94.20/hr (W-2) + benefits
Duration: 1 year (likely extension)
Summary: Our client, an autonomous ride-hailing company, is hiring a System Integration and Test Engineer to validate and ensure reliable performance of vehicle-centric systems across Motion, Body, and EE Architecture domains. In this role, you will apply expertise in electric vehicle systems, systems engineering, and hands-on testing to support the end-to-end integration of a complex autonomous vehicle platform. You will investigate system-level issues discovered during testing and fleet operations and collaborate across engineering teams to ensure high reliability for robotaxi service deployment.
The Systems Integration and Test team is responsible for validating vehicle system performance and resolving integration issues identified during testing and real-world operation. This role is critical to ensuring safe, reliable, and high-performance fleet operation.
What You’ll Do:
– Execute integration testing at bench and vehicle level to characterize system behavior under nominal and off-nominal conditions
– Debug and resolve complex system integration issues across vehicle hardware and software domains
– Analyze test and fleet data to identify risks and drive corrective actions with cross-functional engineering teams
– Support development and commissioning of test benches, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems
– Improve system diagnostics, controls, and observability based on test findings
– Document issues, test results, and engineering findings in Jira and Confluence
– Collaborate closely with design, software, and validation teams to ensure system readiness for fleet deployment
– Travel up to 25% between sites as needed
Critical Skill Areas:
– Vehicle systems debugging at scale (systems-level troubleshooting): This is the core of the job. You need to be able to take messy, real-world failures in a complex autonomous vehicle system and isolate root cause across electrical, software, and networking domains (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, ECUs, sensors). Strong bench-to-vehicle debugging ability is essential.
– Electrical architecture + instrumentation proficiency: You will need hands-on comfort with vehicle electrical systems and test equipment – oscilloscopes, DMMs, logic analyzers, CAN tools, and data acquisition systems. The role depends heavily on interpreting signals, validating hardware behavior, and instrumenting test setups correctly.
– Data-driven validation and cross-functional issue resolution: A big part of success here is translating test + fleet data into actionable engineering insights. That means analyzing logs, identifying integration risks, and driving fixes across software, hardware, and systems teams (not just finding bugs, but closing them).
What You Bring:
– BS in Electrical Engineering or related field
– 6+ years of experience in vehicle systems development and validation
– Strong understanding of automotive electrical architecture and communication networks (CAN, LIN, Ethernet)
– Hands-on experience with vehicle test and instrumentation tools (e.g., CANalyzer, INCA, Intrepid, CSM)
– Strong troubleshooting skills using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, logic analyzers, schematics)
– Ability to debug complex system-level issues in fast-paced environments
– Clear communication and strong cross-functional collaboration skills
Nice to Have:
– Experience with real-time embedded control systems
– Experience with xIL (MIL/SIL/HIL) testing environments
– Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Grafana)
