About The Role

The Staff Software Engineer at Circle plays a pivotal role in extending and enhancing the company’s in-house blockchain systems infrastructure. This position involves analyzing requirements, improving existing systems, and developing scalable microservices responsible for secure APIs that facilitate the transfer of value and assets across various blockchain protocols as well as traditional banking systems. The engineer will collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to design, test, and document system procedures, ensuring high standards of quality and security. Responsibilities also include troubleshooting system malfunctions, building accessible APIs for developers, and integrating platform services with leading banks and financial technology providers. The role demands a proactive individual capable of consulting with management on system principles, writing infrastructure code for seamless payment experiences, and continuously improving system performance and security.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of professional software development experience in object-oriented languages such as Go or Java
• Degree in Computer Science or a closely related field (or foreign equivalent)
• Technical leadership experience managing teams of four or more members in architecture and system design
• Expertise in API design, payments processing, or blockchain technology
• Deep understanding of scalable software architecture, deployment, and design principles
• Knowledge of Web3, blockchain, and smart contract business logic
• Proficiency in RESTful API development and design principles
• Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure
• Hands-on experience with container orchestration systems like Kubernetes, EKS, or ECS
• Strong skills in SQL databases and schema design
• Commitment to coding standards, test coverage, and continuous delivery practices
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with remote teams
• Self-motivated with a curiosity-driven mindset and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Extend and enhance Circle’s blockchain infrastructure to support tokenization and digital asset transfer
• Analyze system requirements, identify improvements, and modify existing systems accordingly
• Develop, build, and own scalable microservices responsible for secure and reliable APIs across blockchain and banking protocols
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, test, and document system features, procedures, and standards
• Troubleshoot and resolve program and system malfunctions to maintain operational stability
• Create publicly accessible APIs to facilitate developer integration with complex payment systems
• Integrate platform services with leading banks and financial technology providers
• Consult with management to align system design principles with organizational goals
• Develop infrastructure components supporting payment experiences, including data sources, messaging systems, and APIs
• Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and quality standards in all system developments
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment activities to ensure high-quality deliverables
