About The Role

We are offering a specialized part-time consulting opportunity for experienced software engineers with a strong background in hardware control, lab automation, robotics integration, and advanced Python systems development. This role is ideal for professionals seeking flexible remote work that allows them to apply their technical expertise to high-impact projects. The selected candidate will support ongoing and upcoming remote consulting assignments focused on developing structured technical workflows, control systems, and automation solutions for complex hardware environments. Responsibilities include building and maintaining Python-based control software, supporting automation workflows, and ensuring high-quality technical deliverables. The role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to troubleshoot, optimize, and document control systems, contributing to innovative solutions in robotics and laboratory automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field
• Professional experience developing Python software for hardware control, robotics, or lab automation
• Strong understanding of control systems theory, signal processing, and data acquisition principles
• Experience working with complex mechanical or laboratory systems
• Strong debugging skills for multi-component systems involving hardware and software
• Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Python software for controlling complex hardware systems
• Implement and optimize control algorithms for real-time performance, including PWM control for motors and actuators
• Develop systems to generate various airflow conditions such as laminar, turbulent, gradient, and time-varying flows
• Build and manage control interfaces for robotic HATS movers, lift systems, and spatial audio setups
• Integrate motion capture data such as Optitrack for real-time system alignment and tracking
• Develop automated calibration procedures for wind speeds, acoustic sensors, and measurement systems
• Build data pipelines for collecting, processing, and analyzing experimental sensor data
• Troubleshoot complex software and system-level issues across hardware and software environments
• Document software architecture, APIs, and operational procedures
