About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and product-focused Software Engineer to join our San Francisco team, specializing in Developer Products related to AI. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of developer tools and platforms, specifically targeting the creation of innovative solutions for building Large Language Model (LLM) and Agentic applications. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be at the forefront of technological innovation, working closely with product managers, designers, and developer relations to deliver scalable, robust, and intuitive developer-facing products and APIs. Your work will directly influence how developers interact with and build upon Workato’s ecosystem in the era of AI, ensuring an optimal developer experience. The role demands a high level of technical expertise, creativity, and a passion for enhancing developer productivity and satisfaction. You will be involved in all phases of the product lifecycle, from conceptualization and architecture to deployment and ongoing optimization, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent industry experience.
• 3+ years of professional software development experience with a proven track record of delivering high-quality products.
• Strong understanding of API design, developer tooling, software architecture, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience building developer-facing products, APIs, SDKs, or CLIs.
• Experience deploying and maintaining ML services in production environments is a plus.
• Knowledge of LLMops/MLops, especially in developer-facing contexts, is highly desirable.
• Experience supporting developer platforms, sandbox environments, or related tools is preferred.
• Product-minded approach with a focus on creating excellent developer experiences.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, robust developer-facing products and APIs tailored for LLM and Agentic application development.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including product management, design, and developer relations—to translate developer needs into elegant technical solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, adhering to high standards of engineering excellence.
• Implement validation, monitoring, and observability mechanisms for ML services within sandbox environments.
• Lead the full product development lifecycle, from ideation and architecture to deployment and continuous improvement.
• Evaluate and optimize existing implementations for performance, scalability, and usability from a developer perspective.
• Identify and troubleshoot bottlenecks, bugs, and technical challenges in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor team members to uphold best practices and engineering standards.
• Stay current with advancements in AI, LLMs, and developer tooling, integrating new ideas and technologies into the team’s workflow.
