Overview

The Sheetfed Press Helper provides essential support to the Lead Press Operator in the setup,

operation, and maintenance of high-speed offset printing presses. This role is critical in ensuring

maximum uptime, maintaining high quality standards, and ensuring the efficient flow of materials

through the pressroom.

Responsibilities

Press Preparation & Setup Load paper stock into the feeder and ensure proper alignment for continuous production.

Retrieve and prepare ink, coatings, and chemicals as specified by the job ticket requirements.

Assist with plate mounting, blanket washing, and roller settings during the make-ready process.

Operational Support – Monitor the feeder and delivery ends of the press to prevent jams or double-sheeting.

Maintain consistent ink and water levels throughout the production run.

Perform quality checks by pulling samples to inspect for color consistency, registration, and defects.

Maintenance & Safety Conduct daily and weekly preventative maintenance on the press (oiling, greasing, and cleaning filters).

Perform thorough wash-ups during color changes or at the conclusion of shifts. Keep the press area clear of debris and maintain an organized, hazard-free workspace.

Qualifications

Technical Aptitude: Basic mechanical ability to troubleshoot equipment and use hand tools.

Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs as needed. Attention to Detail: Strong visual acuity for color perception and detecting printing variances.

Communication: Ability to follow complex instructions and coordinate effectively with the press team.

Preferred Qualifications :

High school diploma or GED equivalent. Previous experience in a commercial printing, packaging, or manufacturing environment. Experience with UV coating or finishing equipment is a plus.

Pay: $15.00 – $22.00 per hour
