Work Environment

This role is based at a busy Physical Therapy clinic. The Patient Service Specialist (PSS) will work closely with three physicians and supporting clinical staff. The PSS is the only front desk representative on site, making reliability, punctuality, and multitasking critical. The role supports the clinic’s daily opening and closing operations and provides essential administrative support to clinical staff.

• Monday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Tuesday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Wednesday: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Thursday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Friday: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Compensation And Benefits

Pay Rate: $19.00/hour

Duration: 4 months

Parking: Free parking is available; no metro access.

About The Role

The Patient Service Specialist serves as the front desk representative at a Physical Therapy clinic, acting as the first point of contact for all patients. This role is critical to ensuring a positive patient experience while supporting clinicians with administrative and documentation needs. The ideal candidate excels in customer service, multitasking, and healthcare administration.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet patients and manage front desk operations including patient check-in and check-out
• Register new patients and schedule follow-up appointments
• Answer inbound phone calls and assist patients with general inquiries
• Provide excellent customer service to patients and visitors
• Document physician notes and patient information within the EMR system
• Perform insurance verification and support Medicaid and prior authorization processes
• Balance responsibilities across patient service, phone support, and computer-based tasks (approximately 33% each)

Required Skills & Experience

• Prior experience in a healthcare or medical office setting
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
• Experience with EMR systems and medical data entry
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Insurance verification experience, including Medicaid and prior authorizations
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
