Software Developer – Leading Global Hedge Fund – Discrete Search – Excellent Compensation + Benefits Full Time

My client, a highly regarded global hedge fund, is seeking a Software Developer to join its New York office.

This is a unique opportunity to join a lean, high-impact team working closely with investment, risk, and operations professionals to build and maintain critical systems that support trading, data management, and portfolio operations across a fixed income platform.

In this role, you will contribute to a broad technology stack spanning analytics, data infrastructure, and front-office tooling. You will play a key part in enhancing internal applications, improving data workflows, and supporting trading and operational processes across the firm.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain core applications supporting trading, data, and operational workflows
• Work across a multi-language technology stack including Python, SQL, and C++
• Build and enhance data pipelines, integrating external vendor and internal data sources
• Support and improve internal web-based tools used across the business
• Manage market data and security master systems
• Contribute to trading connectivity and FIX-based workflows
• Assist with reporting and data integration into downstream systems
• Collaborate with stakeholders across technology, risk, and operations to deliver effective solutions

Requirements:

• 2–5 years of experience in a software development role
• Strong programming skills in Python
• Experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g. stored procedures, optimisation)
• Familiarity with Excel/VBA
• Understanding of data workflows and system integration
• Exposure to web technologies is beneficial but not essential
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a small team
• Good communication skills and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset
