Landscape Maintenance Technician
A Landscape Maintenance Technician is responsible for the care and upkeep of outdoor spaces to ensure their health, functionality, and aesthetic appeal. This role involves hands-on maintenance tasks, pest and disease management, and seasonal care to keep landscapes vibrant and well-maintained according to established plans. The technician ensures the proper use of tools, adheres to safety practices, and works collaboratively with management to address landscape needs.
Plant Care
· Plant, prune, fertilize, and transplant a variety of plants, including flowers, shrubs, and trees.
· Ensure the health and growth of plants by following care guidelines and applying treatments as needed.
Lawn Maintenance
· Perform routine lawn care tasks, such as mowing, edging, aerating, and dethatching, to maintain a neat and healthy appearance.
Weed Control
· Remove weeds manually or apply herbicides to prevent the spread of unwanted vegetation.
Pest and Disease Management
· Identify and address pests or diseases affecting plants and report to management.
· Apply pesticides and other treatments to safeguard plants when instructed by management.
Dead Plant Removal
· Remove dead, damaged, or decaying plants and debris to maintain the landscape’s health and appearance.
Seasonal Maintenance
· Adapt maintenance practices to seasonal needs, such as winterizing plants, preparing landscapes for spring, or addressing fall clean-up tasks.
Landscape Design Implementation
· Follow landscaping design plans to preserve the intended aesthetic and structure of the outdoor space.
Equipment Operation and Maintenance
· Safely operate and maintain landscaping tools and equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, and sprayers, to ensure efficient performance.
Safety Practices
· Adhere to all safety protocols when handling chemicals, using equipment, and working in outdoor environments.
· Maintain a safe workspace for both self and team members.
Additional Responsibilities (Depending on Role and Company):
· Perform minor repairs to landscape structures, such as fences, garden beds, or irrigation systems.
· Communicate with management about landscape needs, concerns, or recommendations for improvement.
