We’re hiring an HDD locator to work behind a Vermeer D20x22 on our compact-bore fiber program in Appleton – Green Bay Area. This is NOT an 811/utility locator role. You’ll be on the drill crew, walking the bore line, tracking the drill head with a DigiTrak locator and calling depth/pitch/yaw to the operator over radio.

We’ve been in the area 6 years with zero seasonal layoffs.

What you’ll do:

• Walk the bore line, track drill head with DigiTrak receiver
• Call depth, pitch, yaw, clock to the operator clearly and in real time
• Read soil conditions, interference, and call adjustments
• Manage beacon swaps, battery life, calibration
• Spot utility marks on the ground and verify clearance before bores
• Help the crew with pull-back, mud mixing, and cleanup when not actively locating
• Document daily bores: depth profile, footage, photos

What we need:

• 1+ year HDD locating experience required. 3+ years preferred (we’ll pay for it).
• Hands-on with a real locator system — DigiTrak F5/Falcon]
• Be ready to talk specifics.
• Read soil, recognize interference, call clean depth/pitch/yaw under pressure
• Comfortable on a radio, comfortable telling the operator to stop
• Can read locate tickets and verify utility marks before drilling
• Valid driver’s license, clean record (we pull MVR — minor stuff usually fine, ask)
• Pass DOT-style pre-employment drug screen and physical (telecom client requirement)
• Show up. Reliable transportation to the shop.

Strongly preferred (extra pay if you bring them):

• Direct experience locating behind a Vermeer or similar rigs
• Current OSHA 10 or 30
• OQ (Operator Qualification) — gas or telecom
• CDL (any class)
• Bilingual English/Spanish

Schedule: Monday–Friday, typically 7am to 4–5pm. Some Saturdays in summer. OT at 1.5Å~ over 40.
