About The Role

We are seeking a talented Staff Software Engineer to join our Appointment Management team. This team is responsible for the core tools used by healthcare providers to view, modify, and manage their appointments and availability via the provider calendar and inbox. Your work will directly impact how healthcare providers operate their practices and how swiftly patients receive care. As a key member of our engineering team, you will balance individual contributions with mentorship, working across the full technology stack with a focus on frontend development using React and Typescript. You will lead initiatives from conception through implementation, rapidly prototyping solutions, iterating, and deploying features that enhance the reliability, performance, and scalability of our scheduling systems. Your role will involve collaborating with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to create seamless user experiences and to ensure technical excellence. Additionally, you will work with cutting-edge technologies, including GenAI tools, to push the boundaries of healthcare innovation.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of extensive experience in front-end and full-stack software development
• Proficiency with React, Typescript, GraphQL, C#, and AWS-based microservices
• Experience designing and building scalable, user-facing web applications
• Strong understanding of performance, scalability, and reliability considerations in software systems
• Background in implementing best practices for coding, testing, deployment, and observability
• Experience mentoring and guiding engineering teams
• Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Knowledge of design systems and component-based design principles is a plus
• Passion for user experience and solving complex, high-impact problems

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end development of consumer-facing applications, primarily focusing on frontend web apps using React and Typescript
• Build and maintain reliable, high-performance systems that support Zocdoc’s provider calendar and inbox functionalities
• Address complex scheduling logic and scalability challenges through innovative engineering solutions
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to deliver polished, user-centered features
• Champion engineering best practices, code quality, and operational excellence within the team
• Mentor and support peers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
• Participate in defining and executing long-term technical strategies
• Work with advanced GenAI tools and emerging technologies to enhance product capabilities
