Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This is a temporary or on-call position. Provides support for concerts, sporting events, outdoor functions and related University special events. Duties may include working at an assigned station in a concession stand; preparing and dispensing refreshments; transporting, maintaining and arranging supplies, equipment and materials; operating a cash drawer; assisting with parking enforcement; acting as an event usher; and similar event related responsibilities. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.
Unit Position Summary
The College of Music seeks an on-call, staff member to support public engagement activities, including leading tours and assisting with open house events for the Carillon. This position serves as an ambassador for the College of Music, providing informative and engaging experiences for prospective students, donors, alumni, and community visitors. Responsibilities include coordinating with the University Carillonneur to support scheduled events, delivering accurate historical and programmatic information about the carillon, and ensuring a welcoming and professional visitor experience. Work is scheduled on an as-needed basis, with hours varying based on event needs.
Desired Qualifications
Awareness of how the carillon functions as a musical instrument (e.g., bells, clavier, range, and performance @context), or the ability to learn this information through training
Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences
Ability to present information clearly and professionally to individuals and groups
Customer service–oriented mindset with a demonstrated ability to represent the College and University positively
Reliability and availability to work on an on-call basis, including occasional evenings and weekends particularly over the summer months.
Ability to follow instructions, adhere to schedules, and work collaboratively with College of Music staff
Physical ability to stand, walk, and conduct tours for extended periods, as required
