About The Role

The Lab Assistant (Data Entry Representative I) at Quest Diagnostics is a vital member of the Specimen Processing Department, responsible for accurate and efficient data entry related to patient and client information. This role operates primarily during night shifts from Tuesday to Saturday, 1:00 AM to 9:30 AM, in Tucker, GA. The position offers a pay range starting at $17.75 per hour, with potential shift differentials of 10% for some or all hours worked on the second shift and 15% for some or all hours on the third shift. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to compliance and HIPAA regulations, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment. Successful candidates will be integral to maintaining high standards of productivity and quality, ensuring that all specimen processing and data entry tasks are completed accurately and timely to support the overall laboratory operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
• Prior experience in data entry, preferably within a production or laboratory environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to interpret visual information accurately
• Proficiency in transcribing and verifying account numbers, order codes, and patient demographics
• Physical ability to sit for extended periods and maintain focus
• Understanding of HIPAA and compliance policies related to specimen processing
• Demonstrated ability to meet productivity and accuracy standards within specified timeframes
• Adaptability to learn job responsibilities and understand departmental workflows

Responsibilities

• Accurately determine and verify client account numbers, patient demographics, and order codes into the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
• Perform all data entry functions efficiently and within established timeframes
• Ensure all requisitions are completed with precise and complete information
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards at all times
• Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, meeting productivity and quality standards
• Demonstrate attention to detail and independent work habits
• Develop an understanding of how all functions within the Specimen Processing Department interconnect
• Adhere to departmental policies, safety protocols, and confidentiality requirements
• Meet or exceed productivity and accuracy benchmarks, aiming for 100% within six months
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors to support department operations
