The Police Laboratory analyzes evidence that is submitted related to a crime. The evidence may be firearms, controlled substances, clothing, or anything that may be deemed probative to the determination of the events and persons at a crime scene. After the evidence is analyzed, the resultant paperwork must be scanned and submitted to the various District Attorney’s offices in anticipation of possible use during a trial. Some of the work have time constraints because of the needs of the courts.
The Police Laboratory is seeking two (2) qualified candidates for Criminalist IV positions.
Candidates selected will be assigned to the Police Laboratory within the Detective Bureau to Supervise scientific laboratory analyses and the testing of evidentiary material required in scientific criminal and civil investigations.

Minimum Qualifications
In addition to meeting the “Qualification Requirements For All Assignment Levels” above, to be assigned to Assignment Level I-B individuals must have at least one year of satisfactory full-time experience in criminalistics, forensic science or analytic chemistry, or a satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience.
