ARC curates group retreats across a portfolio of architect-designed heritage properties across the UK. We’re a small, founder-led team doing something genuinely beautiful — and we need a sharp, organised bookkeeper to keep our finances in good shape as we grow.
This is a hands-on role covering both ARC (our retreat platform) and a wider property portfolio. You’ll work closely with the founders and report directly to Tom.
What you’ll do
- Pay supplier invoices and manage outgoing payments accurately and on time
- Chase customer payments and keep receivables tidy
- Track and organise development budgets across multiple properties
- Handle light renegotiation of utilities, cleaning contracts, and recurring services
- Prepare clean, well-organised accounts — VAT returns and management accounts — ready for our accountants to file
- Keep our books current on an ongoing basis (Xero or similar)
What we’re looking for
- Solid bookkeeping experience — hospitality, property, or a small business portfolio is a real plus
- Comfortable with VAT returns and working alongside external accountants
- Familiarity with Xero
- Highly organised, self-directed, and good at chasing without being chased yourself
- Based in the UK — remote is fine, with occasional check-ins
- Keen to adopt AI into function to improve productivity and enable a broader role
The role
- We’re open to a part-time employee or an experienced freelancer — what matters is reliability and attention to detail. Roughly 1–2 days per week to start, with scope to grow with the business. Would be very helpful if one of these day min was in our Clerkenwell office… So we can meet regularly.
