Job Summary

The Bag Breaker is responsible for opening and emptying soiled linen bags onto the sorting line in a safe, efficient, and hygienic manner. This role is critical in maintaining production flow and ensuring proper handling of contaminated materials in compliance with safety and infection control standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and handle soiled linen bags from incoming carts or conveyors
• Open bags and empty contents onto the sorting belt or designated area
• Identify and remove non-linen items (e.g., sharps, trash, personal items) following safety protocols
• Maintain a steady workflow to support production targets
• Follow all OSHA, PPE, and infection control guidelines when handling soiled materials
• Report any hazardous materials, damages, or safety concerns immediately
• Keep work area clean and organized at all times
• Assist with general production duties as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous experience in laundry, warehouse, or production environment is a plus
• Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures
• Strong attention to detail and awareness of hazards

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods (8–12 hours)
• Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling (up to 50 lbs)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
• Tolerance for heat, humidity, and odors associated with soiled linen

Work Environment

• Industrial laundry facility
• Exposure to soiled/contaminated linens
• Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, gowns, masks, and eye protection

Pay: From $14.50 per hour
