About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Security Engineer to join our AI security team. As the first engineer in this foundational role, you will be instrumental in building and implementing security infrastructure primitives that safeguard Stripe’s AI infrastructure and products. Your work will focus on developing security frameworks and defenses against AI-specific threats such as prompt injections, jailbreaks, and tool misuse. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of AI security, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the safe and secure deployment of AI technologies at scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience
• Proven experience in designing and developing medium to large-scale projects independently
• Strong collaboration skills across multiple engineering teams
• Proficiency in writing high-quality code in a major programming language
• Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments and drive clarity
• Creative problem-solving skills with a clear reasoning approach to complex issues
• Experience with infrastructure systems development, deployment, and maintenance (preferred)
• Background in security engineering (preferred)
• Experience building AI agents or LLM-based systems (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Design and implement security frameworks integrated within Stripe’s core AI infrastructure
• Develop defenses against AI-specific threats, including prompt injections and jailbreaks
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure AI infrastructure and products are built securely from the ground up
• Support other teams in integrating security primitives into their AI solutions
• Maintain high engineering standards by continuously improving code quality and development processes
• Design and develop systems that define the state of the art in AI security
• Partner with cross-functional teams to identify emerging security risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies
