Art Contents Restoration Manager – Art or Related Degree Required.
CRDN of Michigan and Northwest Ohio is a specialty contents disaster restoration company, restoring electronics, textiles and art damaged by fire or water. We are looking for a specialist in our art restoration department.
Major duties include identification and classification of artwork, preparing restoration estimates and performing art restoration. Completed items shall look like pre-loss condition or better, with the inability of the client to see where the item was damaged. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of art and collectible terminology and materials.
Key Responsibilities:
– Manage restoration projects involving fine art, antiques, and high-value contents from intake to completion.
– Assess damage to artwork and contents, determining appropriate restoration methods and scope. of work.
– Coordinate with restoration technicians, conservators, and third-party specialists when needed.
– Ensure proper packing, transportation, storage, and documentation of all items.
– Maintain detailed inventory records using content management systems.
– Develop and enforce handling procedures to prevent further damage to sensitive items.
– Communicate with clients, insurance adjusters, and internal teams regarding status and expectations.
– Oversee quality control and ensure restoration meets industry standards.
– Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
– Train and supervise staff in proper art handling and restoration techniques.
– Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Art Conservation, Fine Arts, Museum Studies, or related field.
– 3 to 5+ years of experience in art handling, restoration, or contents management.
– Experience is disaster restoration (fire, water, smoke damage) strongly preferred.
– Knowledge of conservation techniques, materials, and environmental controls.
– Strong organizational and project management skills.
– Excellent communication and client service abilities.
– Ability to handle fragile and high-value items with care and precision.
– Proficiency in inventory and restoration management software.
Working Conditions:
– Work may occur in warehouses, restoration facilities, and on-site residential or commercial loss locations.
– Exposure to environments affected by fire, smoke, mold, or wager damage.
– Will require lifting, packing, and transporting delicate or heavy items.
– Occasional on-call or emergency response work may be required.
