Position Overview

The Senior Director of Operations is a high-impact, national leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence, service quality, and scalable growth across multiple states and regions. This leader provides strategic oversight for complex, multi-state operations within GT Independence’s fiscal intermediary and self-direction programs, while leading and developing regional Directors and senior operational leaders.

This role partners closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to standardize operations, ensure regulatory compliance, optimize performance, and support long-term organizational growth.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in home and community-based services, healthcare, or human services operations, with a proven ability to lead multi-state teams in fast-paced, high-volume, and highly regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities

National Operational Leadership

• Provides senior-level operational oversight across multiple states and regions.
• Ensures consistent, high quality service delivery while accommodating state specific program and regulatory requirements.
• Develops, standardizes, and implements operational frameworks, workflows, and best practices at scale.
• Evaluates regional performance and leads corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Serves as a senior operational escalation point for complex or high-risk issues.

Strategic Planning & Growth

• Executes enterprise-level strategic initiatives in alignment with organizational goals.
• Partners with executive leadership on national growth strategies, new market expansion, and program launches.
• Identifies opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and scalability across operations.
• Establishes, monitors, and analyzes KPIs, operational dashboards, and performance metrics to drive outcomes.

Leadership & Talent Development

• Leads, coaches, and develops Directors of Operations and other senior operational leaders.
• Builds a strong leadership pipeline and fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Supports talent retention strategies and succession planning across operational teams.
• Provides guidance on performance management, compensation recommendations, and organizational design.

Stakeholder, Partner & Agency Relations

• Represents GT Independence at a senior level with key external partners, agencies, and stakeholders.
• Builds and maintains strong relationships with state program leaders, community partners, and contracted agencies.
• Collaborates with internal teams including Compliance, HR, Finance, IT, and Quality to support operational goals.

Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

• Ensures adherence to federal, state, and program-specific regulatory requirements.
• Partners with Compliance and Quality teams to mitigate risk and ensure audit readiness.
• Leads national initiatives to improve customer experience, workforce operations, payroll processing, and service delivery.
• Promotes a culture of quality, accountability, and participant-centered care.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Human Services, or a related field required.
• Master’s degree preferred or equivalent senior-level leadership experience in healthcare or human services operations.

Experience & Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, including senior or executive-level roles.
• Strong background in home care, home health, personal care, fiscal intermediary services, staffing, or similar high-volume, regulated industries.
• Demonstrated success leading multi-state or national operations.
• Proven ability to build, scale, and lead high-performing leadership teams.
• Deep understanding of workforce management, service delivery, compliance, and operational optimization.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and executive presence.
• High degree of adaptability in fast-paced, evolving environments.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and modern operational and reporting tools.

Work Environment

This is a remote, national role with travel required based on business needs, including visits to state operations, partners, and key meetings.
