Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of the Administrative Deputy Health Officer is to direct and manage the administrative activities of the Somerset County Health Department. This position will be responsible for the direction, supervision and guidance of all administrative and support services, major programs, and policy development subject to the final approval of the Health Officer. Major programs include: Planning and Communications, Prevention and Local Behavioral Health Authority.
This position is designated as emergency essential and may require evening and weekend hours.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualified candidates must possess a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in public health or related field, and five years of professional experience in health service administration and two years of experience supervising professional staff.
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in public health or a closely related field and an additional two years of experience in health service administration will substitute for the Master’s degree.
Desired Or Preferred Qualifications
Desired candidates should possess experience with budget creation and oversight and grant management as well as experience managing public health programs or public health administration.
