Job Summary

LifeScript Pharmacy is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician Processor/Billing specialist to take ownership of prescription processing and insurance adjudication. This critical role involves managing all aspects of new and refill prescriptions from intake to billing resolution, while maintaining accuracy and supporting overall workflow efficiency in our fast-paced Long-Term Care (LTC) environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Process all new prescriptions and refills received via various channels (e-scripts, faxes, and refill requests).
• Review patient profiles for completeness, ensuring accurate insurance information, documented allergies, and comprehensive medication history.
• Handle all insurance billing and processing, including PBMs, the resolution of rejections, and follow-up on prior authorizations.
• Manage the billing queue and actively support 31-day and cycle billing processes.
• Maintain proper, detailed documentation and clinical notes within all patient profiles.
• Ensure continuity of medication supply by following up on all pending refills.
• Communicate professionally and clearly with prescribers, facility staff, PBMs, and the internal team for necessary prescription clarifications.
• Implement critical thinking skills to resolve complex prescription issues.
• Answer phone calls and provide exceptional, professional customer service.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

• Knowledge Base: Basic knowledge of pharmacy law, common drug interactions, and drug indications.
• Tech Proficiency: Proficient in Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and prior experience using RX30 or other pharmacy management software is essential.
• Math Skills: Strong mathematical and calculation skills.
• Adaptability: Flexibility in adapting to policy and procedure changes.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience working in a Long-Term Care (LTC) pharmacy setting.
• In-depth knowledge of Medi-Cal, Medicare Part D, and the prior authorization process.

Pay: $27.00 – $32.50 per hour
