Responsibilities

Sterile Processing Technician – Essential Functions

• Demonstrates knowledge of processes and procedures utilized in the Sterile Processing Department
• Collaborate with the surgical team in communicating when loaner equipment must be coordinated
• Serve as a sterile processing technician throughout the phases of sterile processing
• Knowledge to successfully monitor and operate decontamination and sterilization equipment
• Able to prepare, clean, inspect, test, sterilize, and store instruments based upon the specific IFU
• Maintain and utilize knowledge of all applicable regulatory standards, including but not limited to AAMI and ANSI standards
• Independently follows all cleaning checklists thoroughly and appropriately to maintain a clean and safe environment
• Inspects instruments for bioburden, damage, ensuring functionality, and assembling surgical trays
• Adheres to infection control policies, wearing protective equipment (PPE), and maintaining accurate documentation of sterilization cycles

Other Essential Functions

• Must be willing and able to adjust schedule depending upon the needs of the company
• Must be willing to cross train to GI decontamination
• Must present self at the workstation, ready for work, at the scheduled time
• Participate in department and company meetings, as requested
• Participate in acceptable continuing education, fostering career and skill development including meeting departmental continuing education requirements
• Performs other duties as assigned

Education & Licensing

• High School Diploma, or equivalent, required
• Graduate of a Sterile Processing Technician program preferred, or 1-2 years’ experience as a Sterile Processing Technologist required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required, will provide upon hire
• Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) preferred

Experience

• At least 1 year of Sterile Processing experience in the last 3-5 years required
