ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Accountant is responsible for owning and managing the full accounting function for VoterX, a growing digital media and civic engagement company. This role oversees the company’s day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate financial records, reliable reporting, and smooth coordination with internal teams. The Accountant manages the full accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and commission coordination, bank reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements. This role provides direct visibility into the company’s financial operations and works closely with leadership to ensure accurate reporting and well-organized financial systems. The ideal candidate is exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing the full accounting cycle in a small, collaborative business environment. This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys building and maintaining strong financial systems, takes ownership of their work, and is excited to contribute to a growing company.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain the company’s general ledger and oversee accurate recording and categorization of all financial transactions in accordance with standard accounting practices.
• Manage the full accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and financial record maintenance.
• Own the month-end close process, including reconciliations, fixed assets, prepaids, accruals, and preparation of financial statements for leadership.
• Coordinate payroll processing and work with account teams to calculate and verify commission payouts.
• Monitor financial activity, track receivables and payables, and proactively identify discrepancies or issues requiring management attention.
• Maintain organized financial documentation and provide accounting records as needed to support occasional audit, tax preparation, or financial reporting requests.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• 3–7 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in small or mid-sized organizations.
• Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and experience applying them in day-to-day accounting operations.
• Experience managing the full accounting cycle, including AP, AR, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage accounting operations independently while maintaining reliable communication with internal teams.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar systems.
• Strong Excel or spreadsheet skills.
