About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Staff Infrastructure Engineer to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure that supports our Billing Platform services. Your expertise will ensure that our billing systems are scalable, reliable, and secure, particularly in the context of AI-assisted development workflows. You will play a key role in shaping the future of infrastructure operations at Docker, defining standards for safe, observable, and efficient deployment practices that accommodate AI-generated code and workflows.

This role involves close collaboration with software engineering teams to embed infrastructure constraints early in the development process, leading incident response efforts, and mentoring engineers to elevate the team’s technical capabilities. You will be instrumental in driving improvements across the organization, ensuring that our systems can handle real-time financial transactions with utmost accuracy and security.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, or SRE roles supporting production SaaS systems at scale
• Deep expertise in AWS services, including ECS or EKS, RDS (preferably Postgres), networking, IAM, and cost management
• Proficiency in Terraform, with a proven track record of designing reusable modules and establishing standards
• Extensive experience building and maintaining observability stacks such as Datadog, Grafana, or similar tools
• Strong familiarity with CI/CD systems like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or equivalent, including pipeline design
• Operational and architectural knowledge of Kubernetes
• Experience in identifying systemic risks and leading cross-team improvements
• Security-first mindset, including threat modeling, blast radius analysis, and least-privilege principles
• Exceptional written communication skills in English
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the infrastructure supporting Billing Platform services, including compute, storage, networking, CI/CD, and observability
• Design and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) for billing systems on AWS, establishing module patterns and standards
• Develop and manage observability systems focused on billing accuracy and payment reliability, including metrics, logging, and alerting
• Define deployment patterns and runbooks suitable for AI‑agent‑assisted workflows, emphasizing safe rollback procedures and automated validation
• Partner with software engineers during service design to incorporate infrastructure constraints and operational requirements early in the development cycle
• Identify systemic risks and implement improvements that span multiple teams or organizational boundaries
• Lead incident response efforts for billing system issues, manage on‑call rotations, and facilitate postmortem analyses
• Mentor engineers across the organization, sharing technical judgment to elevate team capabilities
