About The Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Staff Frontend Engineer – MTS 2 to join our dynamic team working on eBay Live, our newest live shopping platform. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of e-commerce innovation, helping to develop and refine a cutting-edge live shopping experience that highlights unique items, collectibles, and fashion through real-time interaction. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for frontend development, a collaborative mindset, and a desire to lead technical initiatives that influence the future of live shopping on a global scale. You will play a key role in translating requirements into scalable, efficient, and maintainable software solutions, guiding cross-functional teams, and ensuring high-quality delivery of features in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• 8+ years of experience in designing and developing frontend systems
• Proficiency in Javascript/Typescript, React, NodeJS, and server-side rendering using open-source UI libraries such as Material UI or Angular Material
• Experience integrating with REST and GraphQL APIs
• Strong knowledge of BEM-structured CSS, Webpack, and Express.js
• Contributions to common libraries and reusable components
• Experience designing scalable, distributed, and high-availability systems
• Proven track record of delivering complex software projects and leading technical initiatives
• Strong understanding of backend integration and seamless system architecture

Responsibilities

• Translate business requirements into robust software designs and develop clean, efficient, and maintainable code
• Own and manage large functional areas with in-depth technical expertise
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members and cross-functional partners
• Identify opportunities for productivity improvements and evangelize best practices
• Design flexible architectures that accommodate future changes and enhance engineering velocity
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to develop innovative solutions
• Implement evidence-centered design practices to ensure high-quality, testable features
• Manage project features, break down tasks, and resolve issues efficiently
• Conduct code reviews, contribute to architecture decision records, and support continuous integration and deployment
• Lead engineering support, release management, and on-call responsibilities for a 24/7 platform
• Proactively identify system gaps and propose scalable solutions to improve platform stability and performance
