About The Role

Join Lockheed Martin’s digital transformation journey as an AI/ML Engineer supporting the AI Strategy Acceleration portfolio within the Data & AI Enablement organization. This role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team of experts in AI, software engineering, and systems development to design, develop, and deploy innovative AI-driven solutions. The primary focus will be on standardizing and accelerating agentic development, ontology generation, semantic data discovery, reasoning, and information retrieval. You will contribute to enterprise-scale cloud and on-premise solutions, facilitate cutting-edge technology exploration, and support the organization’s strategic objectives for data-driven decision-making. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, AI/ML, or a related field.
• Proven full-stack software development experience, with advanced proficiency in Python, including mentoring others.
• Experience architecting and maintaining information retrieval and semantic discovery systems.
• Hands-on experience deploying applications on cloud platforms such as AWS, with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Comprehensive understanding of the AI application lifecycle, including managing cloud deployments and MLOps practices.
• Experience working with large language models (LLMs) and generative AI technologies.
• Proficiency in API design and specifications using REST, OpenAPI, JSON, and JSON-Schema; experience building and managing APIs and backend systems.
• Experience managing collaborative projects on GitHub or GitLab with multiple developers.
• Strategic use of GenAI coding assistants to enhance development workflows.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to program and system access requirements.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative AI solutions that support organizational goals for information retrieval and semantic discovery.
• Architect, deploy, and support enterprise-level AI services hosted on cloud and on-premise environments.
• Design and implement scalable solutions that facilitate semantic data discovery, reasoning, and knowledge graph development.
• Develop and maintain APIs and backend systems to enable seamless integration of AI functionalities.
• Manage the full lifecycle of AI-powered applications, including deployment, monitoring, and maintenance using MLOps practices.
• Contribute to the development of agentic workflows, autonomous systems, and agent development frameworks.
• Facilitate training sessions and explore emerging technologies to keep the team at the forefront of AI advancements.
• Mentor junior team members and promote best practices in software engineering, AI development, and cloud deployment.
• Engage with external technical partners, stakeholders, and customers to ensure alignment and successful project delivery.
