A fast-growing distributed generation platform focused on delivering clean, reliable energy solutions to commercial and industrial customers is approaching a key inflection point in its growth. The company is seeking a senior commercial leader to build and scale its battery storage platform.
This is a high-impact, front-end origination role with significant visibility across the organization. The mandate is effectively at a Chief Commercial Officer level for the storage business, with strong executive leadership potential.
The Opportunity
The company is hiring a VP, Battery Storage / Head of Battery Storage Sales to lead all commercial origination efforts for standalone storage and solar + storage projects.
This individual will be responsible for:
- Building and converting a high-quality pipeline of battery opportunities
- Structuring commercial agreements
- Driving projects from initial relationship through contract execution
The role blends strategic leadership, hands-on deal structuring, and business development, and will play a central role in shaping the company’s battery strategy and scaling its presence in the storage market.
Key Responsibilities
1. Origination & Pipeline Growth
- Lead origination of battery storage opportunities across greenfield, partnerships, and M&A pathways
- Build and expand a top-of-funnel pipeline (measured in MW and revenue)
- Develop relationships with developers, landowners, channel partners, and strategic counterparties
- Evaluate and prioritize opportunities based on capital efficiency and risk-adjusted returns
2. Commercial Structuring & Execution
- Lead negotiation of commercial agreements (tolling agreements, shared savings, and other revenue structures)
- Partner with internal technical, finance, and development teams to structure bankable transactions
- Drive projects from early-stage diligence through contract execution
- Convert pipeline into executable, contracted assets
3. Market Leadership & External Representation
- Represent the company with sophisticated buyers, offtakers, and capital partners
- Build credibility in the battery storage market through strong commercial presence
- Act as the senior commercial voice for storage internally
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Senior commercial leader with strong market credibility and a track record of closing deals
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to operate in an entrepreneurial, scaling environment
- Existing network and/or book of business is a strong plus
Ideal Background
- Deep knowledge of the battery storage sector
- Direct experience negotiating and structuring storage-related commercial agreements (e.g., tolling contracts, shared savings, complex revenue structures)
- Proven ability to originate and close MW-scale storage projects
