Founded in 1997, Vector Capital is a leading middle-market private equity firm specializing in spinouts, buyouts, and recapitalizations of established software and technology businesses. Vector has approximately $3.7 billion of capital under management across several private equity funds and credit strategies. Vector closed its sixth institutional private equity fund, Vector Capital VI, with $750M in total commitments in March 2025. In 2025, Vector has been active in the market, completing multiple transactions across its core technology focus. 

Vector’s private equity team seeks to make both control and minority investments in established technology businesses with enterprise values of $100M to $1B. With a focus on relative value, the typical Vector investment is often characterized by operational transformations or situational complexity in strong end markets. The firm has a highly flexible investing mandate which spans Technology verticals (Software, Hardware, Internet, Industrial, etc.) and investing strategies (Take-Privates, Venture and PE Leveraged Buyouts / Recapitalizations, Carve-Outs, Growth Equity, PIPEs / Public Stocks, Credit, etc.). 

Vector’s team approach to investing is a key ingredient to the firm’s investment strategy. Typically, several members of the Vector team contribute their expertise to analysis of new opportunities and post-investment portfolio company operational involvement. This level of partnership creates close relationships between Vector and its portfolio companies that can be continuously used to address business challenges and identify opportunities for value creation.  

Vector’s Value Creation Team 

Vector is currently scaling and strengthening its Value Creation Team (VCT). The team has a strong culture of mentorship and development, and invests heavily in expanding its core capabilities across growth, transformation, and M&A. Our team plays a critical role during the investment process as well as throughout the ownership of a portfolio company: 

• Partner with Vector’s Investment Team during the diligence process  
• Develop value creation plans, operating models, strategy, and first 100-day plans 
• Engage with portfolio company management to execute various projects 
• Drive strategic and operational initiatives that create tangible value 

Role 

We are currently looking for a Vice President to join our growing team in San Francisco. The VCT Vice President is a core leader across diligence and portfolio value creation – owning key workstreams end-to-end, driving execution with portfolio company management teams, and mentoring junior team members. The Vice President will partner closely with Vector’s Investment Team, VCT leadership, and portfolio company executives to identify, prioritize, and deliver measurable value creation initiatives across growth acceleration, operational transformation, and M&A. 

The individual will be an integral part of Vector’s Value Creation Team and will work alongside senior members of Vector and portfolio company leadership on the following items: 

• Lead diligence and post-close value creation workstreams, translating investment theses into practical, sequenced execution plans with measurable impact 
• Build trusted relationships with portfolio company CEOs, CFOs, Boards, and functional leaders to identify, prioritize, and drive value creation initiatives – operating independently and with minimal day-to-day guidance from other VCT leaders 
• Develop value creation plans, operating models, and first 100-day plans (including initiative sizing, resourcing, timing, and KPI governance) 
• Drive growth acceleration initiatives across GTM (e.g., segmentation/ICP, pipeline generation, conversion, retention/expansion, pricing/packaging, channels) 
• Lead strategic and operational transformation efforts (e.g., operating cadence, org design, margin improvement, cost optimization, reporting/forecasting, operating model redesign) 
• Identify, evaluate, and execute transformative add-on M&A opportunities, including synergy assessment, integration planning, and Day 1 / 100-day integration roadmaps 
• Monitor portfolio performance trajectory, diagnose gaps versus plan, and implement targeted interventions in partnership with management teams 
• Manage and develop junior team members and external advisors, ensuring high-quality outputs, strong executive communication, and consistent delivery against timelines 

Qualifications 

• ~5–8 years of professional experience post-undergrad, with experience at a top-tier management consulting firm and/or operating role(s) in high-growth or transformation environments; experience with PE portfolio and due-diligence (commercial, operational, or financial) work strongly preferred 
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex workstreams independently and drive initiatives from concept through execution with measurable results 
• Strong understanding of value creation and industry dynamics in software and technology businesses (e.g., SaaS metrics, recurring revenue models, unit economics, retention/expansion, product-led and sales-led GTM, sector evolution and market trends) 
• Highly analytical with the ability to synthesize complex data, develop pragmatic recommendations, and communicate clearly to executives and investors 
• Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in financial modeling, accounting, and translating operational initiatives into financial impact 
• Strong business judgment, intellectual curiosity, and structured problem-solving skills 
• Excellent interpersonal skills, executive presence, and ability to build trust with senior stakeholders (CEOs, CFOs, Boards) 
• Proven leadership skills, including mentoring and developing junior team members 
• Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier university; MBA or other advanced degree is a plus, as are technical backgrounds in computer science or related fields  
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with high ownership and accountability 
• Ability to travel 40–60% of the week 
• Based in, or willing to relocate to, the San Francisco Bay Area
