Position Overview
The Vice President of Operations Strategy is responsible for formulating and driving the company’s overall operational strategy, optimizing global or regional operational systems, and enhancing organizational efficiency, delivery capabilities, and cost structures. This role serves as the bridge between “strategic objectives” and “day-to-day operational execution,” focusing on enabling the company to achieve growth in a more efficient, cost-effective, and stable manner.
Typically reporting to the CEO, COO, or CSO, this position constitutes a critical strategic role within the enterprise’s operational framework.
Core Responsibilities
I. Operational Strategy Planning
Formulate the company’s overall operational strategy and medium-to-long-term operational plans.
Design global or regional operational architectures.
Optimize operational models (e.g., centralized, distributed, Shared Service Centers).
Support the implementation of the company’s overarching business strategy.
Establish scalable operational systems.
II. Operational Efficiency Optimization
Enhance overall operational efficiency and execution speed.
Optimize end-to-end (E2E) business processes.
Eliminate redundant processes and resource waste.
Drive operational automation and digitalization initiatives.
Improve unit cost efficiency.
**III. Cross-Functional Operational Collaboration**
* Coordinate with departments such as Sales, Product, Technology, Finance, and Customer Service.
* Ensure seamless integration and flow across business processes.
* Resolve cross-functional operational bottlenecks.
* Establish unified operational standards and procedures.
* Enhance organizational collaboration efficiency.
IV. Global Operations Management
Manage global or multi-regional operational systems.
Unify operational standards across different countries and regions.
Drive localized operational execution strategies.
Manage overseas operational centers and Shared Service Centers.
Enhance global operational consistency.
V. Cost Management and Resource Optimization
Formulate operational cost control strategies.
Optimize the allocation of human, technological, and supply chain resources.
Drive budget management and cost structure optimization.
Improve resource utilization efficiency.
Enable sustainable operational growth.
VI. Process Design and Optimization (Process Excellence)
Design and optimize core business processes.
Establish standardized operational systems (SOPs).
Drive process automation and systemization.
Introduce Lean Management methodologies (Lean / Six Sigma). Sigma) Philosophy
Continuously optimize the operational model
VII. Data-Driven Operations Management
Establish an operational data analytics framework
Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Develop operational dashboards and real-time monitoring systems
Analyze operational bottlenecks and efficiency issues
Support executive-level strategic decision-making
VIII. Digital & Technology-Driven Operations
Drive operational digital transformation
Implement technologies such as AI, automation, and RPA
Optimize operational systems (e.g., ERP, CRM)
Enhance data integration and operational intelligence
Build a modern operational infrastructure
IX. Risk Management & Operational Stability
Ensure the stability and continuity of operational systems
Identify and mitigate operational risks
Establish crisis response and Business Continuity Plans (BCP)
Strengthen operational compliance and security capabilities
Ensure adherence to global operational compliance standards
Job Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Management, Engineering, Information Systems, Finance, Data Science, or a related field
MBA preferred
Work Experience
20+ years of experience in operations management or strategic operations
15+ years of senior management experience (Director / VP level)
Experience working in multinational corporations or large enterprises is preferred
Background in management consulting (e.g., McKinsey, BCG, Bain) is a plus
Experience in the technology, healthcare, FinTech, or manufacturing sectors is preferred
