About the Role
Marketeq is hiring a UI Engineer Intern to support frontend implementation across our full development pipeline, from local development, to staging validation, to production release support.
This is an unpaid, part-time internship designed for a Master’s-level student or recent Master’s graduate who already has real frontend experience and wants hands-on exposure to production-grade product development. This is not a beginner frontend role. You should already be comfortable building user interfaces, working with modern frontend frameworks, reading documentation, solving problems independently, and using AI-assisted development tools to move faster without sacrificing quality.
The work will fall into two main modes depending on the ticket: new frontend screen builds and frontend/API integration work.
On new frontend screen tickets, you will help take Figma designs and turn them into working frontend screens using AI-assisted tools such as Claude CLI, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, or similar tools. The goal is to reach strong visual accuracy first, then refine the implementation into clean, responsive, production-ready frontend code.
On frontend/API integration tickets, the frontend may already exist, and your role will be to connect it to backend APIs that the engineering team has already built. This includes authentication flows, API states, loading states, empty states, validation, error handling, and edge cases.
You will work alongside our engineering and QA teams. You will not run official QA cycles — that is handled separately — but you must be QA-minded in how you build frontend and full-stack work. Before handoff, you are expected to test your own implementation carefully, check the expected user flow, review edge cases, confirm data limitations, validate acceptance criteria, and catch obvious issues before QA receives the ticket.
You will also contribute to the documentation that supports your tickets, including user stories, acceptance criteria, edge cases, data limitations, and implementation notes. The goal is to help you learn how real product teams move frontend work from idea, to implementation, to review, to staging, and eventually into production.
This role is best for someone who is frontend-first, detail-oriented, independent, comfortable using AI tools, QA-minded, and serious about becoming a stronger product-minded UI engineer.

Who This Role Is Not For
This role is not a good fit for someone who is brand new to frontend development.
It is also not a good fit for someone who only wants to work on backend systems and has little interest in UI implementation, responsive layouts, visual accuracy, component behavior, and frontend quality.
You do not need to be a senior engineer, but you do need to have enough frontend experience to take a ticket, understand the expected outcome, use available documentation, ask thoughtful questions when needed, test your own work, and make real progress without waiting for every tiny instruction.
