Job Summary (Sr. Software Engineer Java/Python)
- Develop and Deploy Systems: Design, build, test, and deploy advanced ground operational systems for a leading federal defense contractor.
- Software & Hardware Maintenance: Maintain and enhance hardware, software, and related project components.
- Programming: Write high-quality, efficient code in Java and Python; strong scripting skills in Python, YAML, JSON, and Linux/UNIX environments.
- DevOps Practices: Utilize DevOps principles, including CI/CD pipelines, automation, configuration management, GitOps, and infrastructure as code.
- Cloud Expertise: Work extensively with AWS (preferred), including EKS, EC2, Lambda, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.; Azure experience is a plus.
- Containerization: Develop and manage Docker containers and Kubernetes orchestration.
- Security: Apply security best practices, including risk assessment, compliance, vulnerability management, encryption, PKI, and incident response.
- API Development: Lead API design, testing, development, and management.
- Collaboration: Communicate and collaborate effectively with development, operations, and security teams.
- Agile Methodology: Apply scaled Agile methodologies and best practices in a collaborative environment.
- Documentation: Produce clear technical documentation and knowledge-sharing materials.
- AI Tools: Utilize AI tools and prompt engineering to accelerate workload and productivity.
- Problem Solving: Analyze and resolve complex technical problems efficiently.
- Tool Usage: Proficient with Git, Jira, Confluence, Maven, Ansible, Terragrunt, ArgoCD, Terraform, CloudFormation, Nexus, Kafka (nice to have), Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, SIEM (Splunk), and other modern development and monitoring tools.
- Clearance Requirement: Must be able/willing to obtain DoD Secret or Top Secret Clearance (active clearance preferred).
- Education/Experience: Bachelor s degree in Software Engineering, STEM, or related field with 8+ years of experience (or Master s + 6 years); Agile experience preferred.
