As a Sr. Software Engineer, Backend, you will play a critical role in shaping the systems behind our data ingestion, workflow processing, and AI inference capabilities. Your work will directly influence the reliability, performance, and scalability of the platform as we continue to grow quickly and serve millions of users around the world.

📌 About the Role

As a Sr. Software Engineer, Backend at Scribe, you will design and build the backend systems that power core product experiences and next-generation AI capabilities. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working close to application code while also thinking deeply about distributed systems, scalability, and performance.

You will help architect and evolve large-scale data ingestion and processing pipelines, build services that support AI inference with our in-house models, and improve the performance of business-critical systems across the platform. You’ll work across Python, Typescript, and Go, and partner closely with teammates to deploy and operate reliable systems in AWS.

This is a high-impact opportunity to help define how Scribe scales backend infrastructure for the next stage of growth.

🌎 Location

While we’re a globally distributed team, this role requires you to live permanently in a U.S. time zone.

🧩 What Makes You a Great Fit

• You bring 8+ years of experience building backend applications with Python, Typescript, or Go.
• You have deep experience designing and operating distributed systems in production environments.
• You’re confident working with message queues, background jobs, and task orchestration tools such as Celery, SQS, RabbitMQ, or Kafka.
• You’ve built large-scale data ingestion and processing systems and understand the challenges that come with scale, reliability, and performance.
• You have experience designing, deploying, and maintaining microservices.
• You know how to optimize endpoint performance, improve database query efficiency, and troubleshoot bottlenecks in critical systems.
• You enjoy building pragmatic, high-quality application code and care about maintainability as much as velocity.
• You thrive in fast-moving environments and bring a strong sense of ownership to your work.

Bonus Points If

• You have experience with Django.
• You’ve worked at a startup or other fast-paced, high-growth environment.
