Sous Chef Full Time NEW

Downtown Albany staple looking to add a Sous Chef to our team.

$40,000-$60,000 annually based on experience

50 hours a week

Paid vacation time after first year of service

Responsibilities:

• Assist in Kitchen Management: Support the executive chef in daily kitchen operations, including menu planning, inventory management, and staff supervision.
• Food Preparation: Oversee food preparation and cooking processes, ensuring dishes are prepared according to established recipes and standards.
• Staff Training: Train and mentor kitchen staff, ensuring they adhere to safety, sanitation, and food quality standards.
• Quality Control: Monitor food quality and presentation, making adjustments as necessary to maintain high standards.
• Menu Development: Contribute to menu planning and development, offering creative ideas and seasonal suggestions.
• Inventory Management: Assist in managing inventory levels, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste.
• Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure all kitchen operations comply with health and safety
• regulations.
• Team Collaboration: Foster a positive team environment, encouraging communication and cooperation among kitchen staff.
• Culinary Skills: Demonstrate strong cooking skills, stepping in to prepare meals during busy periods.
• Qualifications:
• Experience: Previous experience in a culinary role, 3-5 years of experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory position.
• Education: Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Skills: Strong culinary skills, knowledge of food safety regulations, and ability to manage a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Leadership: Proven leadership and team management abilities.
• Creativity: A passion for food and creativity in culinary arts.

Working Conditions:

• Fast-paced kitchen environment, often requiring long hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Physical stamina is necessary, as the role involves standing for extended periods and lifting heavy items.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year
