Software Engineer II (Python, Java) Full Time

About The Role

The Software Engineer II position at SRC is a critical role within the NCRC Range Modernization (RM) team, responsible for developing, testing, and supporting software related to designated NCRC products. The role involves working as part of a dynamic scrum team to deliver high-quality software solutions, resolving program problem reports, and contributing to the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of software architectures. The engineer will also support cyber range capability assessments, evaluations, and technology prototypes, providing remote site support for setup, configuration, and delivery activities. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a seasoned software professional to contribute to national security projects and work with advanced technologies in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related discipline, with relevant experience
• Three (3) or more years of proven experience performing similar software development duties
• High-level knowledge of agile software development practices
• Proficiency in programming languages including Python, Java, and C/C++
• Experience scripting with PowerShell and Bash
• Hands-on experience with Linux-based operating systems
• Knowledge of continuous integration tools such as Jenkins
• Familiarity with database systems including MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases
• Experience working with project logistics and controlled engineering baselines
• Proficiency with version control systems such as SVN and Git
• Strong communication skills for technical and programmatic issues
• Ability to work effectively within team environments
• Eligibility for Top Secret security clearance

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and support software components for designated NCRC products within an agile scrum team
• Participate in resolving open program problem reports (PPRs) related to assigned products
• Create and execute unit tests to ensure software quality and support integration testing efforts
• Maintain and modify program baseline architectures as needed
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior software developers
• Support cyber range capability assessments, evaluations, and prototype development
• Assist with remote setup, configuration, and delivery activities at various sites
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of software solutions
• Contribute to documentation, technical reports, and project tracking activities
