Senior/Staff Software Engineer: Agents Full Time

This role is focused on building next-generation AI-powered agent platforms that power customer-facing applications at scale. You will work on highly impactful systems that combine large language models, orchestration frameworks, backend infrastructure, and conversational interfaces to deliver intelligent and reliable user experiences. Operating in a fast-paced and highly collaborative engineering environment, you will help define architecture, influence technical strategy, and drive complex AI initiatives from concept to production. The role requires strong backend engineering expertise combined with hands-on experience shipping production-grade AI and agentic systems. You will contribute to platform-level capabilities such as retrieval pipelines, evaluation systems, observability, and tool execution frameworks. Accountabilities

• Design, build, and deploy end-to-end AI agent experiences, including orchestration layers, LLM integrations, conversational systems, and backend services.
• Develop scalable architectures for AI-powered agent platforms and contribute to foundational AI infrastructure initiatives.
• Build and improve shared platform systems such as retrieval pipelines, RAG frameworks, tool abstractions, evaluation systems, and observability capabilities.
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering leadership to define technical direction and product strategy.
• Balance engineering tradeoffs related to latency, scalability, reliability, and operational cost efficiency.
• Continuously improve AI system quality through experimentation, testing frameworks, and iterative optimization processes.
• Lead or contribute to cross-functional technical initiatives that impact multiple engineering teams and products.
• Mentor engineers and promote strong software engineering standards, development practices, and technical excellence.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven experience building and shipping production-grade AI, LLM-powered, or agentic systems.
• Strong backend development expertise using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Experience designing scalable distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native backend architectures.
• Hands-on experience with AI orchestration frameworks, tool calling, prompt engineering, and agent loop implementations.
• Familiarity with evaluation and observability tools for AI systems such as LangSmith, Braintrust, or custom frameworks.
• Full-stack development experience using modern frontend technologies such as React and TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases including PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to operate independently in ambiguous environments.
• Preferred: experience with production-scale RAG systems, customer-facing AI products, startup environments, open-source AI tooling, and cloud infrastructure deployment practices.
