Senior Engineer, Backend Full Time NEW

FIGS is on the lookout for a Senior Software Engineer proficient in Java, Spring Boot, AWS, Kubernetes, Flux/Argo, Terraform/CDK, ElasticSearch, and PostgreSQL. Our engineering team builds the systems that power a seamless customer experience, scalable operations, and rapid growth.

What you’ll do:

• Design, develop, and optimize FIGS backend services for resilience, performance, and scalability.
• Integrate and deploy applications and services within AWS and Kubernetes, leveraging tools such as Flux and Argo for GitOps workflows.
• Implement Terraform or AWS CDK to efficiently create, manage, and orchestrate cloud infrastructure components.
• Design and build robust database solutions with PostgreSQL and optimize search functionalities with ElasticSearch.
• Lead architectural decisions for team projects and initiatives, focusing on scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Mentor and collaborate with fellow engineers, driving adoption of best practices concerning Java and cloud-native technologies.
• Drive operational excellence, considering aspects from cost efficiency to data security.

What you’ll bring:

• 5+ years in software development with a solid foundation in Java, Spring Boot, and related backend technologies.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform/CDK.
• Proven experience in designing and scaling complex enterprise applications.
• Demonstrable experience with ElasticSearch and PostgreSQL.
• Strategic thinker with proven technical expertise in aligning technology with business goals.
• Strong communication skills required to translate complex requirements, identify edge cases, and clearly document technical decisions.
• Exceptional collaboration skills to thrive in small cross-functional teams and drive technical solutions.
• Proactive, self-starting attitude focused on solving complex technical challenges.
• A strong work ethic, integrity, and an ownership mindset.

Bonus points for:

• Familiarity with e-commerce platforms such as Shopify, SalesForce, Spree, or BigCommerce.
• Exposure to modern CI/CD tools and practices for Java-based applications.
• Experience building data pipelines in AWS

FIGS Compensation And Benefits

Pay Range

• At FIGS, your base salary is one part of your total compensation package. This role’s base salary range is between $150,000 and $185,000. Actual base salary is determined based on a number of factors, including but not limited to your relevant skills, qualifications, and years of experience.
