Senior Backend Engineer (Node.js/TypeScript) Full Time

We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer with strong expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and cloud-native microservices architecture to help build and scale a modern streaming and fan engagement platform. This role focuses on designing and maintaining backend APIs, distributed systems, event-driven services, and multi-cloud infrastructure across GCP and AWS environments. The ideal candidate has experience working in production-scale systems, Kubernetes deployments, infrastructure-as-code, and message queue architectures within a fully remote, fast-paced engineering team. Experience in media streaming, integrations, observability tooling, and scalable backend infrastructure is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain REST HTTP services and background worker/RPC services across a large microservice ecosystem
• Design and support scalable event-driven architectures using message queues and distributed systems
• Develop and maintain integrations with third-party platforms and APIs including Stripe, Shopify, Twitch, HubSpot, Slack, and Mailchimp
• Support streaming infrastructure integrations including video ingestion, HLS processing, Mux, and live stream workflows
• Manage and optimize data pipelines across MongoDB Atlas, Redis, Firebase, and Google BigQuery
• Implement and maintain Kubernetes deployment manifests, ArgoCD GitOps workflows, and CI/CD pipelines
• Build and manage infrastructure-as-code solutions using Terraform and Terramate across both GCP and AWS
• Contribute to observability and monitoring initiatives using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Jaeger, and structured logging solutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fully remote environment while working autonomously on engineering initiatives
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot to improve productivity and engineering efficiency

Core Requirements

• Strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript in production backend systems
• Experience designing and maintaining REST APIs and background worker/queue services
• Strong understanding of microservices and event-driven architectures
• Experience with MongoDB or similar document databases at scale
• Familiarity with Redis, Pub/Sub systems, NATS, SNS/SQS, or comparable messaging technologies
• Experience with Kubernetes fundamentals including deploying to GKE or EKS
• Familiarity with both Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Experience working with monorepo tooling such as Nx or Yarn workspaces
• Understanding of CI/CD workflows, Docker, and GitOps deployment strategies
• Ability to work autonomously in a fully remote environment with minimal oversight
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills across distributed systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment

Nice-to-Have

• Terraform or Terramate infrastructure-as-code experience
• Multi-cloud architecture experience across GCP and AWS
• OAuth2/OIDC SSO integration experience
• Experience with video streaming technologies including HLS and Mux
• Payment platform integration experience, particularly Stripe
• Experience with ArgoCD and GitOps workflows
• OpenTelemetry or distributed tracing experience
• Experience with BigQuery, Apache Beam, or Dataflow analytics pipelines
• Familiarity with Fastly or Cloudflare CDN configuration
• Experience integrating with Shopify or Twitch APIs
• Previous work within fan engagement, live events, media, or entertainment platforms
• Experience with observability tooling including Prometheus, Jaeger, and Cloud Trace
• Familiarity with testing frameworks such as Vitest and API documentation tools like Swagger/OpenAPI
