Our client currently provides over 4,000 low-income families with expanded housing, educational, and employment options in opportunity areas across the Baltimore region. Each family that chooses to participate and completes the counseling program receives a Housing Choice Voucher, high-quality housing and financial counseling, and support in transitioning to their new neighborhood and schools.

Our firm is seeking a dynamic Accountant to join our finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned professional to make a significant impact in a growing organization. The Senior Accountant role is a permanent position that requires a deep understanding of accounting principles and practices, coupled with a passion for numbers and financial analysis. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in the finance industry, with a focus on managing accounts, ensuring compliance, and improving financial processes. Non-profit experience is a plus.
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Accountant, your key responsibilities will include:
1. Overseeing accounts payable and receivable, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded in a timely manner.
2. Preparing and posting journal entries, maintaining general ledger accounts, and conducting account reconciliations.
3. Assisting with month-end close processes, including the preparation of financial statements and reports.
4. Ensuring compliance with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Voucher Management System (VMS).
5. Utilizing accounting software such as Yardi and QuickBooks to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
6. Collaborating with other members of the finance team to improve financial procedures and ensure accurate reporting.
7. Assisting with audits, fact checks, and resolving discrepancies.
8. Providing financial advice and strategic planning support to senior management.
Qualifications:
To be considered for the Senior Accountant position, you must possess the following:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA designation is highly desirable.
2. A minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting role.
3. Familiarity with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Voucher Management System (VMS).
4. Proficiency in accounting software, including Yardi and QuickBooks.
5. Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles.
6. Excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.
7. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in preparing financial reports and data.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
9. Experience in the non-profit sector is a plus.
