Salinas Defense Law Firm, PLLC is a boutique criminal defense and civil litigation law firm based in downtown Houston serving clients across Texas in state and federal court. We fight hard for every client, regardless of background.
We’re growing and looking for a sharp, bilingual professional to serve as the face of our firm and the backbone of our operations.
About the Role
This is a full-time, in-person hybrid Receptionist/Paralegal position — you’ll be the first voice clients hear and a key part of how cases get built and moved.
What You’ll Do
• Answer and screen incoming calls in English and Spanish, ensuring every potential client feels heard and respected
• Conduct intake interviews and gather essential client information
• Schedule and confirm consultations
• Draft and proofread legal correspondence, motions, pleadings, and client communications
• Organize and maintain case files, deadlines, and court dates using our case management system
• Assist with court filings, discovery requests, and subpoenas across criminal and civil matters
• Communicate with clients, courts, prosecutors, opposing counsel, and government agencies (including USCIS/ICE) on behalf of the firm
• Assist in preparing civil litigation files, including demand letters, discovery responses, and hearing prep
• Translate documents and assist in client meetings requiring Spanish interpretation
What We’re Looking For
• Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken) — REQUIRED
• 1–3 years of experience in a law firm or legal setting preferred
• Familiarity with criminal defense, immigration, civil litigation, or any combination is a strong plus
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines
• Excellent phone presence and genuine empathy for clients in difficult situations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Clio or similar case management software is a plus
• Must be dependable, discreet, and detail-oriented
• Must be available to work full-time, Monday–Friday, in person at the Rice Village or Downtown Houston office
