About The Role

The Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist is a vital member of the healthcare and public health team working within a federal agency dedicated to improving health services for underserved populations. Based in the VA Home Office in Virginia, this full-time position involves providing technical assistance, performance monitoring, and quality assurance activities to ensure high standards of healthcare delivery. The role requires collaborating with healthcare providers, federal and state public health officials, and community programs to monitor service quality, develop training programs, and support program capacity building. The QA Specialist will utilize data analysis, conduct site visits, and prepare reports to ensure compliance with health policies and improve overall health outcomes for vulnerable populations.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Public Health or MA/MS in a related field
• 5+ years of relevant experience in public health, healthcare, or government settings
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Strong analytical skills to interpret public health data and recommend solutions
• Experience in providing training or technical assistance on health-related topics
• Experience in writing SOPs, guidance documents, or health policies
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to plan, organize, and manage workload independently
• Experience working with immigrant or refugee populations is preferred
• Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance or possess one

Responsibilities

• Monitor the performance of care provider programs through data reviews, record audits, site visits, and report development
• Conduct training sessions for care providers on health record systems, policies, and health-related topics identified by the Department of Health
• Manage the Division mailbox, triaging and responding to inquiries from care providers regarding health services and public health follow-up
• Assist with data collection efforts, including developing and maintaining data collection tools, entry, and cleaning
• Support program capacity building by collaborating with federal staff and external stakeholders to develop policies, guidance, tools, and SOPs
• Act as a liaison for care providers and federal staff, especially for children with complex medical or mental health needs requiring specialized care
• Coordinate onboarding of new care provider programs and troubleshoot health-related issues
• Prepare and submit activity reports on program accomplishments, issues, and workload activities for division review
• Participate in staff meetings, disease case reviews, conferences, and other related events
• Conduct site visits aimed at monitoring, training, and providing technical support to care providers
