Production Supervisor

Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily bagging operations, ensuring production runs efficiently, safely, and according to customer specifications. This role leads line leaders and machine operators while managing up to seven Daumar bagging machines, maintaining quality, productivity, and compliance with company and customer requirements.

Location: Glassboro NJ

Hours: Monday-Friday 6:30am-4pm

Must be able to work in a cold storage environment

Key Responsibilities

• The supervisor must have a solid understanding of basic and intermediate mechanical principles in order to troubleshoot bagging equipment, identify mechanical issues, and coordinate repairs or adjustments as needed to minimize downtime.
• The role requires the ability to accurately read, interpret, and execute customer work orders, ensuring correct product specifications, bag types, weights, labels, and packaging configurations are followed without deviation.
• The supervisor provides strong leadership on the production floor, directing line leaders and machine operators, setting expectations, and ensuring accountability for performance, safety, and quality.
• Clear and effective communication skills are essential. The supervisor must communicate instructions, production goals, changes, and corrective actions clearly to the team and escalate issues appropriately to management.
• Bilingual capability (English/Spanish) is strongly preferred to ensure effective communication across all team members and shifts.
• The supervisor manages seven Daumar bagging machines and is responsible for coordinating staffing, machine setup, changeovers, and production flow. This includes supervising line leaders and machine operators to ensure efficient use of labor and equipment.

Additional Responsibilities

• The supervisor ensures all bagging operations comply with food safety, quality, and workplace safety standards, including GMPs, sanitation practices, and lockout/tagout procedures when applicable.
• Responsible for monitoring production output, efficiency, downtime, and waste, and for reporting key metrics to management.
• Coordinates with maintenance, quality, and warehouse teams to resolve issues related to equipment, product quality, materials, or scheduling.
• Training new employees and supports ongoing skill development for operators and line leaders.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the bagger room at all times.
• Enforces company policies, attendance standards, and disciplinary procedures consistently and fairly.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a production or packaging supervisory role, preferably in a food or agricultural environment.
• Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with automated or semi-automated packaging equipment.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams in a fast-paced production environment.
• Ability to read and understand work orders, production schedules, and basic production reports.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, extended shifts, or weekends as required by production demands.
