Preschool Transportation Assistant Full Time

Position Requirements:

• Prior experience in student transportation a plus
• Strong team player who communicates well
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred
• Former military experience preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

As part of the Prismatic Services team, Transportation Assistant will work with County Stakeholders, Bus Companies, Service Providers and Parents to ensure safe, efficient, and timely transportation of children to and from Provider Sites. Duties include:

• perform related duties as assigned by Prismatic leadership
• serve as point of contact and complaint resolution for parents, schools, bus contractors and county
• maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
• coordinate transportation
• follow procedures to determine need to suspend transportation services due to weather or other conditions
• maintain child and service provider information in routing system and an online file system
• receive and respond to incident and accident reports
• maintain required files and records
• provide in-person office hours at the County building several times per month
• adhere to the requirements of FERPA
• assist as needed – manage parent transportation agreements
• assist as needed- monthly billing for bus companies

• Well-developed customer service skills to elicit feedback to ensure needs and expectations are accurately and fully understood
• The ability to work independently without constant in-person supervision.
• Excellent organization and time management skills to manage
• Customer service skills to effectively resolve issues with parents and program staff.
• Ability to work as part of a remote team
• Ability to learn and use a variety of software packages effectively
• Ability to train bus drivers and aides in the use of select software packages

Judgement & Creative Thinking:

• Position works under the general direction of the Director of Prismatic Services and within a team of data and routing analysts. Position will be interacting with a county director, bus companies, parents, service providers, and school districts.
• Considerable judgment is exercised in interacting with customers and eliciting their feedback on service and expectations to understand their needs and develop solutions that adequately meet their needs without raising expectations beyond what is feasible and viable
• Judgment is required to understand the unwritten business rules of the customer, and identify when those rules should or should not be applied

Internal Contacts:

• Regular contact with Prismatic Services remote staff and local, part-time support staff member to receive feedback regarding route execution and to coordinate service

External Contacts:

• Daily contact with parents, bus providers, county stakeholders, school districts, and service providers

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on telephone
• Must be able to travel to County building several times per month
• Must be able to travel to accident sites on short notice in Ulster and adjacent Counties
• Must be able to provide adequate space in a home office environment free of distractions during work hours
