Marine Mechanic

Derecktor Shipyard is currently seeking an Marine Mechanic. The individual will handle the maintenance and repair of marine equipment and vessels.

Responsibilities:

· Perform routine inspections, maintenance and repair of marine equipment and vessels

· Diagnose mechanical problems and determine necessary repair work

· Experience with operation and maintenance of mechanical systems and propulsion systems

· Experience in rigging and removal of shafts, propellers, and rudders

Requirements:

· Marine and/or Heavy Equipment experience of 3+ years

· Knowledge of the marine industry preferred

· Ability to work in a shipyard environment

· Must have own tools

· Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

· Able to climb in and out of vessels under repair

Work Environment Summary:

Applicant may be subject to environmental conditions such as cold, heat, exposure to noise, hazards, and confined spaces/close quarters. Applicant must be aware of work environment at all times.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit/stand, walk, climb, kneel, crawl, use hands or fingers, talk, hear, see with close vision, and access confined spaces. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
